We are almost four months into 2022 and the weather is finally turning for the good. With the start of a new season comes the opportunity to check in with ourselves, to see how well we’ve stuck to our goals set earlier this year. What better way to challenge ourselves than with a community partner challenge?

What Is the Partner Challenge?

Our partner challenge is a community event focused on two-person teams, that consists of 5 workouts over 4 weeks, with the last workout being done in person as a group (as long as that fits your teams schedule). We will test different time domains and modalities such as mono structural work, gymnastics, strength, work capacity and good old fashion teamwork. This challenge will not only be about our fitness ability, but also our ability to work together as a team by strategizing the best way to accomplish the given task with your partner.

Why Should You Do the Challenge?

The challenge will consist of workouts that will test your ability to get through a variety of given tasks. This gives each of us a chance to check in and see if the work you have been putting in is working. We also believe that working out as a community, helps us enjoy the process of training more! So find a friend and challenge yourselves, all while having fun!

How Do You Participate?

The partner challenge is for current members and is a chance for us to celebrate the hard work everyone has been putting in so far this year. Click HERE and follow the registration information to join the challenge. Once you register, we will release all of the workouts (except for the final), on the first day of the challenge. You can then do the workouts in whatever order, on whatever day you like, as long as you do it here at R3VIVE. We will have score sheets in the gym for you to track your scores while we put them into Triib. We will also include a link to a leader board, so everyone can see their ongoing results!

When Will It Start?

The challenge will start on April 25, 2022 and run until May 21, 2022. It will end with a chance for us all to workout together, during the last workout scheduled on May 21, 2022.

What is the March of Dimes? The March of Dimes is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of mothers and babies, with a focus on preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. Learn more about the March of Dimes here. Why is it important to us? We are excited to host a workout in support of the March of Dimes and the South Shore Hospital NICU team. My sister-in-law, Amanda Dougherty, and my nephew, Owen Dougherty, received a lot of care during Owen's premature and traumatic birth. Amanda and her family will be walking on the SSH NICU/SCN team in the March for Babies walk on May 9th, and we would love to support her by donating to the cause and helping other families in need. When's the charity class? We would love for everyone to come join us, no matter your fitness level, in support of this great cause. The class will be hosted on Sunday, April 12th, at 11 am. T-shirts will also be available for purchase as a preorder up until March 27th. All proceeds from registration of this event and profits from all shirts purchased will be donated to the SSH NICU/SCN team under Amanda Dougherty. Donate and Jump into Class If you would like to donate more, you can go directly to Amanda’s page and donate here.

Strength expression is our ability to show or utilize the strength we have. We call it expression because in the world of lifting, CrossFit, functional fitness, or training, our ability to show that strength varies. Even though our potential strength is the same, we are not always able to fully express it the way we want. Whether that is hitting a max back squat, doing heavy thrusters in a CrossFit style workout, or hitting that heavy clean complex when olympic lifting, we will not always be able to hit our maxes, this is because of factors outside of just our strength itself.
